Shirley Ann (McIntyre) Coast

Shirley Ann Coast (McIntyre), 86, of Mercer, PA, passed away at home on March 14, 2025, surrounded by family. Shirley was born to Dorothy (Porterfield) and Edward McIntyre on November 11, 1938.

Shirley married the love of her life, Robert D. Coast, on February 14, 1976. He survives at home.

Shirley was a Jehovah’s Witness and she loved her lord, Jehovah. Shirley was an excellent cook, keeping everyone in the family fed and happy. She enjoyed documenting everything, keeping a notebook with pictures and dates well labeled of anything that happened or anyone who visited. With her husband being on the road most of the time with work, Shirley was called upon often to fulfill the needs around the house, and she did it with the best attention to detail. Shirley was passionate about plants and being able to share her passion made her especially happy. She was once given a piece of a spider plant that she was then able to pass out to many of her friends. Back in the day, Shirley was even the league winner of the Powderpuff Racecar League. Most importantly, Shirley loved her friends, her family, and all of her animals, and she always made sure her daughters were loved and taken care of no matter what.

Shirley is survived by her husband and her daughters, Laura M. Rudge of Hermitage; Vickie L. (Jeff) Burdick of Mercer; and Tracy R. (Mike Goodworth) Quintero of Vienna, OH. Shirley is survived by 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Louise Embrick; Mildren Swogger; Edward E. McIntyre; Ernest McIntyre; and Walter McIntyre. Shirley is also preceded in death by two of her daughters, Mary Ann Bray and Danielle Bair.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose Simplicity Cremation and Funeral Center, Inc. 200 S Erie St. Mercer, PA 16127. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at 3PM at Kingdom Hall, 2885 Hawn Hill Rd. Hermitage, PA 16148. The service will also be available on Zoom.
