Kathy File 63 a resident at Kadima at New Wilmington and formerly of Oil City passed away unexpectedly in the morning hours of February 25, 2025

Born March 21, 1961 in Oil City to birth Parents; the late Melvin and Sylvia (Brocious) Hunsberger

Kathy was brought home from the hospital by her adoptive parents; the late Sam and Nellie (Brocious) File

Kathy loved crafting. She loved crocheting and plastic canvas. She also enjoyed playing bingo at the nursing home.

Kathy loved her American Girl dolls, and not only made clothing for her dolls, but also made them for others at the nursing home. She would barter Pepsi and other snacks for her handicrafts.

Kathy was a lover of all animals, especially cats. Kathy was grateful for the friendship of Elaine at Furry Agape Pet Therapy in Grove City who visited Kathy often. She developed a bond with furry friends; Autumn and Mocha and spoke of them all of the time. She was also very sad when Marbles passed away in 2021.

Kathy was a Christian, attending the Oil City Church of the Nazarene for many years and currently considered Faith Baptist Church of Cranberry as her home church although she had been unable to attend since her relocation from the area.

Kathy is survived by her brother John Hunsberger, Brother-in-law Rick Witherup, Sisters-in-Law Mary & Kate Hunsberger all of the Oil City/Seneca area. 

She is also survived by many nieces & nephews including Pastor David McVay, who took care of Kathy since the passing of her mom, as well as many cousins.

Kathy is preceded in death by both sets of her parents, a son Michael Lee Deshner, sister Anna Witherup, and brothers Ralph & Tom Hunsberger.

The family wants to thank Michelle, Barb and the entire staff of Kadima for the care they gave Kathy.She was not always the easiest person to get along with and they all were just the greatest team!

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose Simplicity Cremation and Funeral Center, Inc. 200 S Erie St. Mercer, PA 16137

Burial will be at Brandon Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her son and parents.

There will be no services at this time. A private committal service will be held at a later date.In Kathys honor: have a Clark’s Donut Cinnamon roll and drink a Pepsi!
