It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of James Bailey Williams III, lovingly known as Hank, who left us peacefully on February 5, 2025, at the age of 84, surrounded by his sons after a brief illness. Hank was born on January 25, 1941, to James and Mavis Sitts Williams in Youngstown, OH.
Hank married his beloved wife, Mary Rowland, on May 11, 1968, in Florida. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. After relocating to Polk, Pennsylvania, in 1987 from Florida, he dedicated 17 years of his life working at Reyer's Shoe Store.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Hank is survived by his daughter, Wendy Higdon, sons, Jay (Becki) Williams and Chris Williams, and former daughter-in-law, Michelle Coonce. He was a cherished grandfather to Eryk, Marie, Samantha, Tamara, Heidi, Brandon, Danielle, Carter, Ethan, Marissa, and Myleigh. He also leaves behind five great-grandchildren. Hank is survived by his brother, Jack (Mimi) Williams, sisters-in-law Ann (Jay) Poppleton, Alexandria (Larry) Molt, and Susan Kerk, as well as two brothers-in-law, Tom (Sharon) Rowland and Chris (Diane) Rowland, along with many special nieces and nephews. He had very special neighbors, George and Nancy, who often looked after him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his dear wife Mary, who passed away in 2007, and his special companion and fiancé’ Nadene, who passed away in November 2024.
Hank was known for his bright and happy smile, always ready to share a joke. He loved taking walks on his beautiful property and was of Protestant faith.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose Simplicity Cremation and Funeral Center, Inc. 200 S Erie St. Mercer, PA 16137. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will be held with no services. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
