Hilda L. Shollenberger, 85, of Greenville, Pa, passed away peacefully with family by her side after a brief illness at UPMC Hamot on July 17, 2024. Hilda was born to Waldo W. and Alberta Whyte on August 2, 1938. Hilda finished high school before going on to work in the restaurant service for over 16 years while still being the great mother she always was. Hilda married the love of her life John Shollenberger on September 25, 1957, and stayed by his side until his death in 1991. Hilda found some of her greatest adventures in the books she read, whether it was a new enticing romance novel or finding what her next meal would be in her newest cookbook. In her time away from the pages, she would crochet the day away while catching up on crime shows. Hilda loved spending time with her family, especially when they could all gather together to show their love for one another at holiday gatherings. Hilda boasted a proud passion for flowers, plants, and taking care of every single one that was scattered around her house. She could often lure her family to the kitchen table to assist her with her newest puzzle, whether it was to find a piece or show them her progress. Hilda had one consistent thing in her life and that was her dogs. Every pet she had was a pomeranian. Hilda is survived by her children : Mary Consider; Tom Shollenberger; Sally Kerkenbush; Judy Shollenberger; Darla (Brian) Partridge; Becky Gillenwater. She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. Hilda is preceded by her parents and her husband as well as her siblings: Waldo R. Whyte; Gerald Whyte; and Nancy Consider. Hilda was also preceded by her granddaughter Tina Shollenberger. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose Simplicity Cremation and Funeral Center, Inc. 200 S Erie St. Mercer, 16137 Inurnment will take place at Hadley Cemetery.
